Our nephew Aaron went to Cambodia in the recent past. He reported that it was rather difficult to find good food. Fortunately our taste buds recall a different experience.
Here is The Sugar Palm‘s fish with ginger. This dish used to be one of our favorites at Chez Sovan in SJ.

Here is Khmer Crispy Noodles, also from The Sugar Palm. We once had this at a Cambodian New Year’s party hosted by Sovan, but it’s not on her restaurant’s menu.

We saw lots more appetizing looking food that we did not eat. For example, here is a mountain of shredded green papaya. (Mary is allergic to papaya.)

In our travels, we also saw lots of food stuff en route to tummies. My picture of freshly slaughtered pigs on the back of a tuktuk (shot from another tuktuk in moving traffic) is a blurry mess, so here’s a picture of somewhat more sedentary salad greens waiting to turn left across National Route 6:

We realize after we came home that we have very few pictures of food from Siem Reap, especially considering that it was our longest stay in any one place. Maybe Aaron is right, after all!
