These Kmhmu women’s outfits are from two different sub-groups in Luang Namtha Province.
The Kmhmu Nguan clothing is made with handspun undyed cotton, woven in their former village. The looms and skills to weave this cloth were abandoned when relocating to Nam Mang Village 25 years ago.
The Kmhmu Kouene shirt exhibits a modern style, decorated with sequins, ribbon and multicoloured embroidery.
